Greetings,
I've recently received a sword knot from a relative's estate that I was told was an original Civil War era sword knot. This particular relative had an extensive collection of militaria from several periods, so I'm not sure how reliable the date is on this particular item. This sword knot is made of gold bullion and black cotton/linen thread woven together.
If anyone can help me out with some information about this knot I would appreciate it. So far all of my research has come up with pictures and descriptions of the more traditional sword knots, but nothing resembling this knot. Below are two pictures.
Thanks in advance.
