Hello all,
In looking to update my kit by getting rid of my suttler-row knapsack and replacing it with a better quality one (possibly from Missouri Boot and Shoe Co.) I have come up with a few questions. First of all, I portray an Illinois Federal infantryman in a regiment that was raised in the late summer of 1862. Thus far I have found no pics of any soldier from my unit (the 104th Illinois) wearing a knapsack. I cannot decide what would be best to purchase, an early-war knapsack with the fron strap rivets showing or the one made in 1862 where they were covered by leather. Would it be more prudent to buy the later-war one or the early-war one for my impression? Any suggestions will be taken to heart. Thanks a lot!
Sincerely,
Matthew Cassady
