The latest edtion of the Comapny of Military Historians has arrived. Contains some really neat articles on Confederate Sharpshooters and Confederate sleeve badges. Another on the raising of U.S. Colored Troops for the War, and a beautiful full color plate of the 12th N.Y. Militia in 1850. The French Army influence in uniforms is obvious. Besides these articles, several more on the Revolutionary War, Mexican-Expedition of 1916, Marines, etc.
The reason I bring this up is that all of you should become Company members. Lots of perks to belonging to an organization like this. You can meet people who don't reenact per se, but have some really great info. on Civil War material culture. They sponsor an annual meeting. In April they will be in Colonial Williamsburg and Jamestown. Student Memberships are only $15. Individual memberships are $45 for the Journal only (4 times a year), and $70 to receive the color uniform plates.
