Re: What CW related item did the Lady of the House allow Santa to bring you for Christmas

I AM the lady of the house, and I made him a federal great coat, found him a very fine looking wool scarf made in England, and helped him locate two books for his library at Books a Million on a recent trip tp Alabama.

Santa was very kind to me this year. Along with my wondeful CJ Daley infantry pattern Kersey Trowsers He also left me the the "Offical Military Atlas of the Civil War" for my reading pleasure. Not content with that he also left "Kautz' CUstoms and Services for the NCO" and Dom Dal Bello's "Instructions in Guard and Pickets". I have plenty of reading to keep me busy during the coming cold winter nights.

'Twas the Bully Buy for me!

Santa should've sent Matt Woodburn a "Thank You Card" for takin' some of the pressure off of this year's Xmas. :)

I recieved, from my lovely, wonderful, beautiful girl, the "Revised Army Regulations of 1861." It is probably better than any novel I have ever read. Great character development, and a well developed plot line. So many unexpected twists. It truly is sad that I get more excitment out of reading a policy manual than reading a novel. My biology background has finally gotten the better of me.

CINCHOUSE provided me a superb fed foot pattern greatcoat from the Skilletlicker. 'Tis a righteous overgarment indeed. Thanks to my bride of nearly a quarter century.

            Happy New Year,

She bought me absolutely nothing Civil War related. She's boycotting all talk of the endeavour in the domicile. I guess that's considered to be on the outs. So what the hell. I got in my car and drove to Harpers Ferry and bought 2 muskets from Zimmerman. Both 1816 Mdls. 1 Flintlock and 1 percussion conversion. Who needs women anyhow?

Among other things, two books: "Corporal Si Klegg and his Pard",which needs no introduction here, and a new one: "A Taste for War-the culinary history of the Blue and the Gray" by Wm. C. Davis. This one looks good, and it also has a section of period recipes. I expect my Sekala drawers and shelter half to be landing on my porch any day now. (does that sound a little strange?)

Well my great wife Allie passed the word to everyone in the family so from all fronts I got Johnson's Cartridge Box book, a great original off white two panel homespun wool blanket, Butterfield's Outpost Duty book, a Gettysburg book, a Photographs of the Civil War book, Five Tragic Hours about Franklin, a great officer's satinette cap, a beautiful silk cravat, and a formal Civil War surprise party that stole my heart. She's a great wife.
