  • Save the Fort Pitt Music Bastion!

The original remains of Fort Pitt are endangered. Through an
unfortunate series of misconceptions combined with misguided goals,
some of the leaders our city, region and state have decided to
obliterate one of the most important above-ground parts of the "Forks
of the Ohio National Historic Landmark." This endangered treasure of
our Nation is Fort Pitt's "Music Bastion," built between 1759-1761.
The Music Bastion is the oldest standing architectural display of our
nation's frontier origins. This bastion of Fort Pitt takes its name
from the tradition that it was where buglers made their calls and
where military bands could have played.

Human Remains Unearthed At Point State Park possible to be native
    american but work continues!!!!!!!!!!

The Fort Pitt Preservation Society has been organized to oppose the
burying of the bastion in favor of proper maintenance of the area and
badly needed interpretation of the site based on its historic
significance. Other concerned Pittsburghers share this view,
unfortunately, plans are moving ahead quickly. In the light of day,
the people of the Pittsburgh region should decide what is to become of
    their history.

In improving the park for the future of the city, is it necessary to
bury its past? Now is the time to voice your opposition to the
destruction of the Fort Pitt Music Bastion.
