  • Odd uniform combo?

I was at an antique shop today and took a look throught their CDV's. Couple nice ones of Union Cav and one that caught my eye.

A Union Sergeant wearing an abused Hardee, had a Sack Coat & a pair of Zouve Trousers. He was carrying an M1861. On the back was Vicksburg August 1863.

Any ideas out there of what unit he might have belonged to? The clothing combo caught my eye... I don't think he was quite PEC.

Definitely a strange choice of clothing. Maybe a NY unit perhaps?

Interesting find. Several Western Theater units that participated in the Vicksburg campaign started the war in Zouave uniforms, but it was commonly thought that they had worn them out and replaced the uniforms by the time 1863 rolled around.
