"1,000 Blankey Overcoats, with Capes. "

???? I presume this is a typo and actually refers to "Blanket Overcoats, with Capes."

If so, this provides even more evidence, as I inferred in my articles on the "Landy Lindsey Blanket Coat," that a fairly sizeable number of coats assembled from blanket material were furnished to Confederate troops at various times and places.

Thanks for sharing this. I have, in fact, reviewed a portion of the Dispatch, but not for this particular time frame.

      Hi Mark,
Perhaps it could be in reference to the weight and weave of the fabric used ? Just a thought.
