Re: Four Wars
Great photo Ken;
I looked up Mr. Alley and he served in the 6th WV Infantry from 64 to 65.
A newspaper article states he was pretty active all his life, with a special interest in livestock and horses.
The World War 1 vet has an unusual name (Yoho?) possibly a nickname.
Thanks for sharing..

Here we are, some with whole skins, and some not so whole. Others have been left behind. For myself, I can only wonder if there is a bone left in my carcass when I think of the wholesale carnage through which I have passed. My bruises are inward.

Although the man in the picture is a WWI vet, if you input Yoho into the Civil War Soldiers and Sailors database you get quite a few returns, all Federal. Several of the men below served in WV regiments. As such they could be related to the WWI Yoho since he is also from WV.

Looking at the Yoho Family website it was interesting to read that some Yohos in the Ohio Valley had their bank accounts frozen in 1941 because some beaureaucrat thought they were Japanese. That must have really P.O.'d the ones who were veterans. :angry_smiBill Carey

Re: Four Wars
I am currently student teaching in Marshall county and there are several Yohos that I have met. I will have to print that picture out and drive around seeing if I can find the location of where it was taken sometime.

I've spent some time in WV (Harrison County) and the nice thing is that the towns there change very slowly. I'm sure you'll find the location.Bill Carey

Re: Four Wars
Just an update to my earlier postings. I did manage to locate the spot where the picture was taken today. It turns out I had driven by it numerous times and never noticed as it was on a side street. It is located in Cameron, WV and the field gun is still there. I will try to figure out how to post a picture on here when I get a chance for a "then and now" comparison. Also another interesting note is that the owner of the town's funeral home is named Charles Anderson and he supposedly bears a strong resemblance to the gentleman in the picture. I suppose it may be his grandfather.Brandon Sollars
