A new book has just hit the markets called "Greenhorn and the Elephant" by Van Zabava. It is a really fast read and is the story of a reenactor, from what drove him to join the hobby to the experirences and bonds that have formed over the years, as told through the eyes of the author. Van Zabava is part of Co. K, 6th Tx Infantry in San Antonio, Tx and is his first book. It has a lot of good laughs and does give a very good insight to what us reenactors experience at events from "hardcore" events to very relaxed events. The opening chapter just pulls you in as he describes the 140th of Gettysburg and is hard to put down, especially since we as reenactors can relate to his stories and feelings.
