  • Euro Arms Mainspring

    Hello all,
Tried a search and only found period notes on Enfields prior to Antietam, etc. and checked the approved vendor list with no luck. Just returned from Banks Grand Retreat and discovered my mainspring was broken. I have a neaby source, maybe, but was wondering if anyone has a reliable place I could get a new spring? I would try Dixie Gun Works, but wanted to check here, first. I know that EA and ArmiSport are slightly different so I wanted to be sure I got the right part for the right weapon. Thanks for your help.

They should have some in stock.

You can also try http://www.taylorsfirearms.com/. They are one of the major Euroarms importers and they do stock factory replacement parts.

Thanks. I will try Lodgewood since they seem to have a good reputation.

Taylor's has a good reputation also among those of us who are gun dealers since they are the principal importer of Euroarms.

My mind defaults to Lodgewood because I see them at the skirmish.
But, I can also vouch for Taylors. I sent a musket back once because it "looked" like the stock was cracked and they sent another, no questions asked.
            Either place is good.

              Re: Euro Arms Mainspring

              Hallo!

You may want to send the broken spring pieces when you order.
"Euroarms" has gone through 4 or 5 (?) "production changes" since the mid 1980's. (I am currently searching for a 1985 vintage EA mainspring as the current springs do not fit).
If you have a "current generation" EuroArms, suppliers will likely have a replacement.
If the Enfield is "older," Lodgewood matching it by sight may be the best option...

Thanks, Herr Schmidt. That sound like a good idea. The weapon was, I believe, made in 1987. I have already replaced the spring once, but I had access to a vendor at that time. BTW, it was about 6 years ago that the spring was replaced, if anyone is collecting such information in regards to how long parts take to wear-out.
