    Pards,

I am applying for a job at Pamplin Park soon. Can anybody give me their thoughts on the opportunities there? I have read some information by using the search function and their website, and it seems that you can wear your own uniform/equipment for being a historical interpretor.

    Re: Pamplin Park

    Ryan,

I worked there last year (2006) as an hourly seasonal interpreter and had a great time doing so. The park really is an amazing place. Based on Pamplins' Job Opportunities and your statements I assume you are looking into the same. If you want, PM me your email address and we can discuss any issues you'd like only because IMHO we should keep this conversation off the A-C.

I've had a couple friends work there. Seems like that place ALWAYS has job openings. Think about that for a while and then consider working there.

          Mr. O'Beirne

A couple of thoughts based on your post for both sides of the coin. The first is that due to budgeting the Interpretive Assistant (and Educational Assistant for that matter) jobs that Pamplin offers are seasonal (school field trips through Spring and "High" season for walk-ins). The second thought is that you have definitely caught on to a trend that exists for a reason.

Neither of my friends who worked there were in the historic interpretation department and both were hired as full-time (non-seasonal) employees. One bucked the trend and worked there for several years, actually.
