I don't fall into the category you asked about, because I haven't actually resided in Mississippi for over 22 years, due to Uncle Sam desiring me to live else-where. However, I am VERY proud to have been born and spent my formative years in the Magnolia State.

I grew to love Civil War history during visits to Vicksburg before I was old enough to even read about the War.

Interesting. My wife's ancestor was in Co. F, 1st MS LA.

One of my ancestors, David Slay of the 36th Miss Inf, died on Juy 4, 1863 at Vicksburg.

Originally from Starkville Miss. I have spent the last 26 years in the USMC. Retiring this summer and headed to Gulfport to be the Senior Military Instructor for the Gulfport HS MCJROTC program. Member of Turners Battery, Company C, 1st Miss Light Artillery (based in Starkville) since 1991.
