Re: How Many Battlefields Have You Slept On?

Here are some Battlefields that I have slept on. (Plus some other Civil War related places)

Atlanta (Very near the spot where General McPherson was killed. East Atlanta LH)
    Cedar Creek
    Rich Mountain
    Bulloch Hall
    Pickett’s Mill
    Kennesaw Mountain
Big Shanty (now the City of Kennesaw)
    Perryville
    Athens, Mo.
    Chickamauga
    Ft. Pulaski
    Port Gibson
    Shiloh
    Ft. McAllister
Savannah (in my buddy’s apartment was near the Reb trenches circling the city)
    Andersonville
Williamsburg (near the area where McClellan’s siege guns were set up)
    Resaca
    Olustee
    Shaker Village
Nashville, Travelers Rest (Also my grandparents place is right off of Hillsboro Pike where the Federals advanced to storm Shy’s Hill. Some of my aunts live near/on Montgomery Hill as well so I guess I’ll count that.)

Soon I can add Vicksburg and finally.....

THE BATTLE OF THE HORSE PARK!!!!!!! (joking!)

I saw the Peabody Hotel listed in an earlier post for Forrest's Raid on Memphis. I think he meant to list the old Gayoso Hotel which was a few blocks south of where the Pebody was built (in 1869). The Gayoso was torn down to make way for Goldsmiths Department store. The Gayoso was the scene of Jeff Forrest's ride into the lobby.

I started using the good old "NPS 384" list, and ran out of bandwidth. :p

Did Katrina blow Ft. Gaines one state to the west? I kept thinking it was on Dauphin Island, which was in the Yellowhammer Nation.

                              Battlefields Have You SLEPT On?

Hey, lads -- the question to my way of thinking was asking how many battlefields have we had the experience of sleeping on, not just visiting. Some undoubtedly could offer a much longer list of sites to be seen.
