  • Federal Reenactors Needed to Honor Disabled Veterans

This is for all reenactors living near the Greater Milwaukee area. The opening ceremony of the 27th National Veterans Wheelchair Games is scheduled for the evening of June 19th at the Midwest Airlines Convention center in downtown Milwaukee. We are in need of authentic uniformed reenactors of the United States Armed Forces to carry State banners before the participants as they enter the arena during the ceremony. All eras are welcome, so if anyone would like to come as a soldier of a conflict other than Civil War, they would be more than welcome. Due to the fact that this is an event honoring United States veterans, I'm sorry but we are asking for only reenactors that portray U.S. forces (no Confederates this time). Women are needed to participate in period dress as hostesses and ushers, and may participate as escorts to the athletes if dressed in authentic women's uniforms.

For more information and to register, please contact Laura Rinaldi, at Laura.Rinald@va.gov. Further information on the games can be found at http://www1.va.gov/vetevent/nvwg/2007/default.cfm.

This is a great chance for us that so often portray soldiers of the past to honor living veterans that have sacrified more than we can ever imagine for our freedoms, many of whom have been recently injured fighting in Iraq and Afganistan.
