  • Youtube - "The Civil War in Four Minutes"

This video is too friggin' cool as it visually illustrates the ebb and flow of the war like nothing else I've seen. The background music is *sigh*Ashokan Farewell, but, in this case, "AF" is a perfect complement to the video. Furthermore, the "casualty ticker" at the bottom of the screen will leave you stunned.

Yeah, thought-provoking video - that. Amazing what they were actually able to illustrate in just 4 minutes.

Re: Youtube - "The Civil War in Four Minutes"

I just shared this video with my colleagues in my school's History Department. We use SmartBoards nearly everyday and YouTube has offered us some tremendous video clips that capture the interest of our students in history. When used in conjunction with texts, artifacts, and kinesthetic activities, we really grab the attention of our kids.

Mark, thanks for sharing the clip. I plan to use it with my history students tomorrow!

I thought that the Youtube was very eye opening as far as the casualities per year.

P.S. In case your not tracking, I am an "Ashokan Farewell" hater

That appears to be the video shown at the Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum in Springfield, IL. I suspect that is why it will be removed shortly. Great video though.

I have seen this video at some battlefield or historic site somewhere down the road. I just can't remember which. My gut says Antietam.

YouTube has a statement up that it is has been pulled "due to a copyright claim by BRC Imagination Arts." These are the folks who did the museum design and exhibits for the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum, which is where this interesting program is displayed. I guess the folks at BRC didn't appreciate their work being posted on YouTube.
