Usually not that much info is requested on a registration form: Name, contact info, club name, emergency contact info, and sign that you accept the event standards. How difficult is that to fill out in legible handwriting?

It must be very difficult indeed. The stuff that gets submitted.... (and the resulting e-mails that "bounce"...)

One solution I've come up with for events my unit hosts is to have online registration. The form will download into an excel spreadsheet and then you can sort via name, unit or impression.

    Advantages:
    1) It allows people to register quickly as it only takes about 2-3 minutes to fill out the form.
    2) It avoids any transcription mistakes from people with bad handwriting.
    3) It allows event contacts to easily e-mail the registration list to sgts and officers.
    4) No more bounced checks.

    Disadvantages:
    1) Not everyone uses paypal to pay registration fees.
    2) Invariably, at least 2 people who want to come don't own computers.

If anyone is interested in setting up an online registration system for their next event, please consider contacting me, I'd love to help out with this process.

BTW: This is the form I set up for the Rich Mountain gig last year and it virtually eliminated the red tape for the event staff: http://www.cjdaley.com/vendors/RichM...articipant.htm
