I think the new feature is very cool. I have been collecting data on the uniforms of various units at Chickamauga for over a decade now and hope to pull something like this off eventually. I can tell you some of it would be very surprising with the huge variety that would have been seen even within units.

If you need help databasing and cataloging stuff online... I'd be happy to host your data.

Outstanding job, a great way of putting the evolution of the NC uniform into perspective. Grand idea indeed, might have to steal it for a Georgia reg. (if ya dont mind that is)

              Re: Trying Something New!

I think it would be sweet to have a place on the Forum where guys can post pictures of themselves and thier kits of variation. It would be cooll, one to see everyones kits, and two to see the amount of variation between units, messes and so on. Just my thought.

                Re: Trying Something New!

Sorta like a fashion show where we can critique each others research and their impressions?

I fear this would become a pissing contest.

                  Re: Trying Something New!

Yeah... With Dave Hunter's bile, the vinegar in our barbecue ration, and the memory of D.H. Hill's acerbic wit... a pissing contest with the NSR would be a losing proposition for any comers.

You know a greater way to see everyone's cool kits? Go to good events and actually live it for a weekend.

                      Patrick,

How novel an idea is that? To actually go to an event where folks properly follow the guidelines in order to look and act like the Army! My sentiments exactly.

We'll see you guys at Chicamauga.

To Mark and the other members of the North State Rifles. Thank you for bringing to light some of the most fascinating elements of our period of interest. I can’t say enough about how impressed and appreciative I am of your efforts.
