      I like the last bit!

      I like the last paragraph and felt it the most poignant of the article...especially the last sentence.

      "He said, "Do we value these things? I'm not convinced we do. I'm not convinced we don't. It's up to the kids. It's going to be up to generations I'll never meet."

        Thanks for the post, I enjoyed reading and get tickled when I think about meeting Rob for the first time at 1st Raymond and discussing these things.

        I know this discussion wasn't meant to delve off into buttons, but my observation has always been that the "whole" button wouldn't have tarnished due to thumb action when buttoning it...and that was only if the soldier was allowed to let unpolished brass go unpolished to start with.

        (listen...hear the sound of two pennies hitting the bar)
