Please forgive me for the delay in this post as computer problems and family issues delayed me in getting it to this site. Thanks for reading.

    Dear All;

I am sad to report to one and all that during the day of Fri. 13th of July, between the hours of 10 and 4, my house was broken into. I discovered this during the evening when I arrived home from dinner on Friday night. The back door (steel), was kicked repeatedly. The door held. Unfortunately, the wooden doorframe did not, as it split and shattered from the wall, allowing the thug(s), into my home. A check of the house quickly revealed 2 items missing:

1: My Musket!!!... It was the first thing that they grabbed since it was in the back laundry room directly across from the back door.

2: A "D" handle knife. A cheap little Chinese job that was a gift from a friend of mine from the Texas Ren Faire. It looks like a small cutlass.

The intruder(s), moved through the house very quickly, they completely ignored the digital cameras sitting on the table, the dvd player and didn't even go into the office where all of my computers, printers, and 2 swords were. Instead they went straight the to master bedroom and rifled through the upper shelves of the closet looking for more weapons.

The intruder(s), obviously did not know what it was that they had, as they left the cartridge box, cap box, and leathers, AND the case, (along with the bayonet), sitting in the floor next to the door. Once they figure out that it "ain't the type of weapon" that they can use, I figure it'll find it's way into a pawn shop in exchange for a quick 50 bucks.

The police already have a good idea who is behind this as a group of "individuals", (race, ages, etc will not be named), have recently moved into an apt complex about four blocks from where I live, and "suddenly" a quiet neighborhood is starting to have "problems". In fact one of the indviduals had already been arrested by the police for having stolen goods in his hand, and he spent 1 day in jail, and was released with a court date, (Like he will ever show).

To say that this has not only angered and saddened me is beyond words. I've had the musket for less than a year, and it was the same one that y'all saw me cleaning after each and every event that I attended.

I'm giving out the weapons information so that folks from the 33rd can be on the lookout since "weirder things have happened".

MUSKET: Euroarms .58 cal Enfield (Three Band), with leather sling. Serial Number # 16999

IF you come across this weapon, PLEASE CALL ME IMMEDIATELY at 317.373.7372 as I have to report it to the police and I have the case #.

Thank you for reading this and wish me luck in replacing it as now I have to figure out my budget...(again)...

    Yours In Service:

"The captain said to "fix bayonets!"...I told him that mine "wasn't broken..."; Then the 1st Sgt told me that "I was "special"...And THAT's why I'm on guard duty...again..."

If you own your place of residence, your homeowners insurance should cover at least part of the cost. Or, if you rent, renters insurance, for the cost is really worth the money you spend. I had 7 dozen goose decoys stolen from the storage area in the apartment I lived in years ago. My renters insurance covered nearly the entire replacemant cost.

I am very sorry to hear you were robbed.

        Mr. C,
You might want to rethink that.

"5 mth old male, brindle and white. Has been abused and will need a home with no toddlers, as he is afraid of them. He is afraid of anyone coming towards him carrying things."

Bullmastiffs are much better guard dogs, but need ample space for exercise. Cute APBT though, but at that age they're a handful.

The firearm insurance provided with a $35 NRA annual membership would have covered the replacement cost of the musket.

            Hallo!

"The firearm insurance provided with a $35 NRA annual membership would have covered the replacement cost of the musket."

            Yes!

"Most" homeowner's/renter's insurance covers a set amount when it comes to "firearms." Mine is a TOTAL of $600.
If you have a poicy, it is worth asking about.
If you do not, the NRA membership is far cheaper than the cost of a rider to one's home/apartment insurance.

            Curt

(Not that it applies in this case... but most of us have a desire to "display" our Civil War arms in highly visible places arond the house or apartment- making it easier for the thief in their typical 5-15 minute raid to see them and grab them.)

If your weapon didn't turn up at a pawn shop, might I suggest you check at the local solid waste transfer stations, both public owned and private and also the local sanitary nad demolition landfills. All these facilities maintain spotters who observe the waste being handled to weed out any non-legal or hazardous waste. Not being stupid or fantastically paid, they also tend to be on the look out for recyclable materials and valuables. Many also maintain more formal programs for salvaging scrap metal and such. In the event the thieves dumped it you might have a chance of finding it, at least worth a couple of phone calls.

I would call the local gun shops and get them to watch for an individual trying to buy the latest winchester ammunition for their new acquisition ;)

I had a friend who was in a store when a kid came in to rob the place, and he knew who it was. It happened to be a neighbors kid, robbing the place, with of all things - an original 61 Colt Army. He took the gun from the kid (knowing it wasn't loaded, and that the kid didn't have sense enough to know how, and took him home to his dad. The kids Dad sold him the gun from $50. He said this was back in the early 60's, and the police didn't get involved because everyone kind of knew everyone, and they figured his dad would straighten him out.
