  • Holiday Wish List

I don't know about you folks but as the Holiday season approaches each year I always struggle with my wish list. My wife knows it's usually Civil War related but I sometimes stuggle on zeroing in on exactly what I like and/or need. I was wondering what's tops on folks list this year. I might get inspired!

I would like a side or two of true buff leather.

        [HOUSTON] TRI-WEEKLY TELEGRAPH, October 28, 1863,

        Wanted.

All ladies in Houston and surrounding counties who have cloth on hand, which they can spare, are requested to donate it to the ladies of Crockett for the purpose of making petticoats for the Minute Men of this county, who have "backed out" of the service. We think the petticoat more suitable for them in these times.

I ask for a lot of things, some specific, some not. I always end up getting nothing reenactor related. Oh well, such is life.

Long list, but the tops are an I&C knapsack and a Confederate kepi.

Number one on my list is a new metal detector, a Whites MXT. As far as reenacting goes a new pair of civilian boots.

A new civilian sack coat made by Mr. Mobley. A nice brand new shinny M1840 rifle and maybe a new pair of denim trousers....but as it looks these will all be late Christmas gifts to my self.
