    Some of the old boys, Beall Nine Camp, Montgomery Co Md. I’m not sure of the date.

    1. Brooke Beall, Mosby's Regiment, Virginia Cavalry, Partisan Rangers
    2. Edwin F. Maxwell, 32nd Regiment, Virginia Infantry
    3. Samuel Tait Beall, 35th Battalion, Virginia Cavalry

        Just wondering...I noticed Edwin Maxwell listed from the 32nd VA INf. In Les Jensen's book on the 32nd he is listed as being killed at Sayler's Creek and buried in Hampton, VA. I wasn't sure if this was the right person?

          Thanks for that Tim. I'm going by what is written in the album. I often question the accuracy of these unofficial family records, especially the crazy Beall side.

          This Maxwell looks much younger than his surrounding cousins and may be in fact Rev. Ed Maxwell, the son of the soldier. They were from Norfolk.

          The only solid positive ID I have is Tommy, Beall Vet # 4.

          We are confident that Sam is # 3; it's his daughter's album. Two other pictures list #1 as Brooke...but there were three Brookes in the family in that generation and each claimed to be a Partisan Ranger.

            By the way, I'm fine with anybody questioning these, I actually encourage it.

            And the last name is pronounced bell

              Yeah, I wasn't sure. Sometimes you can't go by the records as well. It does say he was born in Maine and enlisted in Hampton, becoming an officer later on. It says he was buried in St. John's Cemetery in Hampton. I'll have to see if anyone here would be going by the cemetery to look. What caught my eye was the unit. The historic house I work at was owned by an officer in the 32nd Virginia, so I was curious as to which company he was in.
