    2nd South Carolina~December 1862?

    Just recieved some notes on an upcoming event; where we will be portraying the 2nd SC on Marye's Heights.

    Time is short, but I would like to do a little bit of reading before the event. Unfortunately, due to the constrictions of my current employent, hitting up a local library isn't going to happen in the month left before the event.

    Any help on the obtainment of information pertaining to the uniforms of the 2nd South Carolina Infantry ca. December 1862, or the action during the Battle of Fredericksburg would be most appreciated.

    Paul,

    You're kind of limited in your options. Search the Internet for Augustus D. Dickert's History of Kerhsaw's Brigade. You should be able to find the full text on-line.

    The December 30, 1862 ordnance return for Kershaw's Brigade lists the following for the 2nd SC:

    389 armed men; 11 unarmed men; 267 Enfield Rifles Cal. 57; 122 Springfield Rifles Cal. 57
