    Re: Antietam Documentary Veterans?

I'll check too as one of the crew members. I worked as a camera assistant and steadicam operator.

I only check in to complain to Lee. Lee - I had mananged to force the memory of cheese grits from my mind - but only in the past few years! Now they are back.

Will, sorry, but those grits still haunt my dreams. For those who didnt have the pleasure, they were like trying to eat sand in a cheese soup.

        Re: Antietam Documentary Veterans?

I'll be attending Picketts Mill/New Hope Church this year. If any Antietam guys are going, make sure to stop and say hey.

So the next Antietam question, of the guys you met on set who do you still keep in touch with?

        My list:
        Barrry Hesson
        Jay Barrick
        Brad Egen
        John Wiederword

I've done a bit of shooting for Brad Graham but not in the last two years.

        I wish there were more,
        Steve Acker

Carried the national colors along side of Steve, sprinting across Burnside's Bridge. Hot as heck that week, but was pretty fun.

              Re: Antietam Documentary Veterans?

Participated in "Pick-up" shoots in '99-00. Some fun experiences for sure.
              Some outstanding memories:

-Walking through simulated artillery blasts for a scene filmed in Linden, MI
There was NO "acting" involved. I felt like I had been knocked back about 30 feet.
-Scene in Ohio. We did a portion of the Sunken Road. There with Will Eichler, Kurt Loewe, Tim Sheehy and yes, Steve Acker.

-While in Ohio, someone cracked a joke about James Earl Jones' narrating, to which one of the sound guys replied, "We've got tape of Darth Vader hocking a loogie..." Too funny.

Unfortunately, food for that shoot was 2 Mickey D's cheeseburgers and coffee...
Had fun at all of 'em. Got to meet Steve A. in Ohio, though I haven't seen him since 2002. I'm planning on being at Pickett's Mill, so hopefully I'll see you there. :)

Sorry - I was at the Greenfield Village shoot (why I said Dearfield is beyond me!), no shots in Wisconsin.

I didn't work on set but can remember making 7 or 8 forage caps for the those Texas boys.

I hope the full length version comes out as well. I had speaking lines in some of the make up shots filmed in Ohio. Was origianlly at the Greenfield Village shoot, but the first night I developed a horrible sinus infection.

my group was at the shoot we were the other horse artillery team on the set when the the horse artillery team wrecked in the creek,we hit a rock in the creek in the same spot and about lost the barrel off the gun we were pulling too!that was a wild shoot for horse artillery as some pyrotechnic went off under our team during different shot for the film.thats one thing about doing horse artillery you always have plenty of wild story after every time you go out...

I was there for the first Sharpsburg Filming and then did some Pick up stuff later.

Saw Barry Hesson the other day BTW- doing well.

                          Re: Antietam Documentary Veterans?

Myself and two of my old 64th OVI comrades Tyler (Rufus) Underwood and Cory Carter spent a cold day in a Ohio field outside of Tiffin doing some pick up scenes. We kept doing some scene in march column taking an artillery hit and a dummy got blown up (Blowed up real good!!!). Alway wondered what became of the project.

                            Kent,
I was there for that, I think. Was that the one where the 6th Wisconsin was marching and a round hit knocking over scores of men and one dummy came flying through the air? We also did a sunken road thing and an evening shoot where myself and a wounded man clasped hands then I blew out the candle. Fun stuff.

I did some 1999 Greenfield village stuff, just some marching by the slave quarters and role for the bully 6Th WI. Fun stuff though and I got my one and only line "Here George" on film. It was on one version of the Antietam film. Well I have done allot more filming since, lets see History Channel Chancellorsville, Franklin, also the War that Made America, all six weeks, and Also Owl Creek bridge and recently a film the Mt.Vernon. So not to bad but only one measly line from then all. I do love it though. And a bunch of pickup stuff in Brownstown,MI for some Brad Grahm shoot. Almost forgot Soliders All. Hey that should be in the Civil war movies it is not to bad.

The horse artillery team still active? The times I have seen them it was something to see. You all did a fantastic job.
