Looking for information on Camp Andrews, located near? in? Syracuse, NY at the start of the war. The Onondaga regiments passed through here before being sent to Albany and then to the seat of war. Looking particularly for location.

I posed this question to some of my chums and got the following response:
"It was located at Syracuse's old fair grounds just outside the city on the south side near Castle and Kennedy Streets, and bordered Onondaga Creek. Nothing is left of the site today. It has all been developed with streets and houses over the years.
"It was first referred to as Camp Monroe in 1861, renamed Camp Andrews in August 1862 by the 122d N.Y.S.V. in honor of Syracuse's Mayor Charles Andrews, and renamed Camp White by the 149th N.Y.S.V. in September 1862 in honor of Ald. White the well known and popular commander of Co. D, of the 51st regiment."[FONT=Times New Roman]Yours most respectfully, your obedient servant,[/FONT]
