  • Thanks for getting the forum running again

Running this forum is a thankless job. Thought it a good idea to express my thanks for keeping this forum alive and monitored.

We all take this forum for granted. When it's down, I notice how many times I check back to see if it's running again. I don't sweat the times the forum goes offline because I know it will be back ASAP. The nameless folks running this forum are doing their best to keep this forum alive. When it's down, I view other forums even though they don't satisfy as much as this one.

I'm glad it's back. Thank you moderators for your work. Thank you administrators for keeping this forum online.

I do admit... I check this place quite often to see the scuttlebutt and other goings-on.

It's an invaluable guide to research, authentic events, conduct historical debates/discourse on specifics, identify quality gear vendors and aids networking amongst each other.

Also, it helps me weed the perceived 'streamer events/groups/gear from the perceived authentic events/groups/gear and that is a great thing. (Authentic and mainstreamer titles have the potential to be quite subjective, as you well may know. )

But enough of this "keyboard kampaining"... let's start the 2008 hobby season. :D

Thanks guys - we appreciate the moral support.

Sometimes databases get goofed up but we've got plenty of practice now of getting them cleaned up and back online.

Ah the dark ages, where we met in the field or at meetings and worked together in one hobby. Back when we communicated via telephone and newsletter. It was a time when we hated the winter and not being in wool. A time where our units were never less than a squad and we all belonged to companies and battalions. Where leadership and the chain of command were important and your comrades and yourself learned and trained together. Where a good example in the field became a leader himself and where when you looked him in the eye, you knew who he was. Where we all had one personality.

A time when we were hardcores but did not think to call ourselves anything but reenactors.

Then came the age of computer Civil War...

I was just a-funnin' Herr Doug.

Well, may be not about the sharp sticks and rocks part though.

Usually either a problem with the host server or a corrupted database field. The first, the host has the fix... the latter, we have to fix.
