Mississippi Depot, Main, between 8th and 7th streets.

Alabama Depot, Main, between 8th and 7th streets.

North Carolina Depot, Main, between 8th and 7th streets, opposite Spotswood Hotel.

South Carolina Depot, south-side Main, between 14th and 15th streets.

Georgia Hospital and Relief Association, south-side Main, between 14th and 15th streets.

Fourth Texas Depot, 15th between Main and Cary streets.

Fifth Texas Depot, corner Cary and Virginia streets.

Anyone got anything on this ? Deposit of supplies for different states ? In distinctly separate accommodations...not a clearing house for all supplies to be meted out across the CS armies.......

I would love to find more information on the Georgia Hospital & Relief Association. Particularly the set of Trousers (Trowsers) and Jacket mentioned in E.O.G. Confederate Edition.

In "Hood's Texas Brigade: Lee's Grenadier Guard" by Colonel Harold B. Simpson there is a footnote regarding the Texas Depository Depot located on the corner of Main and Seventh streets. At this depot packages from home would be stored for the Texas soldiers until they could be picked up. It also stored any excess baggage and personal items of the soldiers when they were going on extended campaign.

Sir Bill speaks true.

You will note that the various states had depots, whereas the Texas regiments each had there own. It was rumoured that, though the Texas men had no more worldly goods than the other Confederate soldiers, and often made do with far less, still and all the additional space was required for their egos.....
