Has anybody ever seen anything else like this? Anyone have a picture of the compass and the watch complete, or is he just blowing steam?

personally without even doing any further research I would say the description says it all. One can tell a lot by what a person says, how they write (verb tense/structure etc) and how they describe something (in this case the item in question).

If I had been the one who found the item, you can bet your paycheck I would have had a better description as well as some historical research to support my claim or assumptions.
