  • Shoulder holster, correct or not ?

My question is this, would a civilian had or used a shoulder holster to carry a small revolver such as the colt 1849 ?

If they would have had one, could you help me locate one.

According to 'Packing Iron', shoulder holsters did not come into use until the late 1870's.

The predecessor of the shoulder holster, the 'gambler's vest' dates back to the ante-bellum period, but as to how PEC such an item would have been..?
