Re: Looking for old editions of the Camp Chase Gazette

Sorry Craig - I haven't seen an issue since you and the WD plugged back in there. Wasn't considering that. I recant!

But no, I won't ever send another research article in to the CCG. Bill Holschuch made sure of that.

Holschuh is long, long gone (as is Nicky Hughes) and I currently edit the material for The Watchdog, a publication to which you have submitted excellent work previously. Keep in mind that some of the Camp Chase readers are going to be members here if they are exposed to the favorable aspects of what the "get it right" side of the hobby offers.

The choice of topics is virtually limitless and depends solely on your area(s) of interest, with the caveat that it be related to some aspect of the Civil War and not include anything about the practices of Greek sailors or showering with truckers.

Re: Looking for old editions of the Camp Chase Gazette

Alright, so I can keep organized here, here is what I have in my hands so far:
          April, 1998
          September 1995
          August 1995
          October 1994
          July 1990

          John Barr,
Alright, I will meet you on April 12 then to get them. I will send a pm as a reminder when we get close to that date. (If you could tell me what exactly you are giving me so I know what else I need to find, that would be apprechiated.)

          Scott Bumpus,
All those issues you listed (including the 1997 ones) I would like to get them all.

          Paul Herring,
Which issues of CCG do you have from the late 80s and early 90s?

          Joe Walker,
Waiting for email for which issues you have.
          -------
So, here is a list of what people are offering me so far:

All issues from 1998 to ?
          June 1987, Jan-Feb 1986, and May 1985
          Three issues from 1997
Issues from Late 80s and early 90s?
          Issues from the Late 70s

Once I start finding out what issues I will be getting, I can start tracking down the ones I don't have. If you have ones that aren't mentioned yet, please contact so we can see if we can arrange something. Just wondering, how many issues does the CCG put out every year usually?

Thank you, now I know I need to get all the issues after June 2005. It seems like there is a lot covered already, but there is still several to be found. I thank all who have offered to help so far, and hope to hear from others.

                  David:

I have (somewere) all the original Camp Chase Gazettess, when it was started by Bill Kietz in the early 1970's out of Zanesville,Ohio. The original ones were about 5 1/2 by 8 1/2. They started going to a full 8 1/2 by 11about 1980. I have all them some were as I have looked a couple of times for them, but could not find were I put them. You have been in my "war room" so you have an idea how crowded it is. I will look for them over spring break next week. I want to rereand some of the old ones myself.

Actually I think they are in a box in the bottom storage areas of one of my display cases. I'll dig them out next week, between sewing.

No offense to Dr. Hook, but we all "wanted to be on the cover of the Camp chase Gazette". I quite getting it in the mid 1980's when it just started to become too farby.

                    Weed,
Yer wife used them to stuff dolls, right?
Much of the old CCG is not worth reading. Some of the 1970-1980 cutting edge-hard core stuff from then seems silly now...How to convert thrift store sports coats into rebil jackets as an example, and who can forget years of that Klegg fellow from Ohio? I have about a three foot book shelf of the old issues. I was going to put them on eBay, the Nation's Trash Disposal. Or do they even have a chance of drawing attention there?

Probably no chance even on Ebay. Not to many people are interested in "Cal's Campfire Chats" any more, if ever!!!

Thu Earl Roberts (NOT RICH ROBERTS) did write some good things from time to time. Too bad he died in 1982 and not Rich. Makes me feel old.

Earl was interesting thu. I never saw anybody but him comb the hair on their toes besides him....

Battle of Mansfield, LA in 1979. Drove all the way there to wake up next to a junk yard! Too bad Fred and Lamont weren't arround.:confused_

I want to thank both Steve Sullivan and John Barr for getting me a lot of issues of the Camp Chase. But if anyone could provide somehow (or at least let me read/scan) the ones I still need, please contact me. I really like reading these old CCGs and they are valuable resources to my research. To review, here is what I need:

-ANYTHING from the beginning in 1972 to Volume 14, Issue 2 (November/December (Holiday) 1986)
                        -Volume 17, Issue 9 (August 1990)
                        -Volume 22, Issues 2-8 (November/December (Holiday) 1994-July 1995)
-ANYTHING from Volumes 23 and 24
                        -Volume 25, Issues 1-4,7,8 (October 1997-March 1998, June-July 1998)
                        -Volume 28, Issue 2 (November/December (Holiday) 2000)
                        -Volume 29, Issue 1 (October 2001)
                        -Volume 30, Issue 3 (January/February 2003)
                        -ANYTHING from Volume 32, Issue 8 (July 2005) to Volume 35, Issue 3 (January/February (Winter) 2008)

                        Thank You again,
