  • Books or Websites to educate my family

Does anybody have any recommendations for books or Websites that would be useful to me so I can educate the rest of my family on the Shenandoah Valley campaigns of 1862 and 1864? I'm creating a Power Point so they can better understand the Campaigns.

There are many more that are similar.

    Google seemed fairly helpful. :wink_smil

World Cat is a good place to search for available books on a subject.

      Shenandoah 1864

It looks like there are quite a lot of resources out there readily available on this subject if you are willing to do the work to actually dig into them.

The Shenandoah Valley Campaign of 1862 by Gary Gallagher isn't too bad...it has been a few years since I have read it, but if I remember correctly, I believe it is a collection of essay compiled into the book covering various topics of that campaign.

Lee's Endangered Left: The Civil War in Western Virginia Spring of 1864 by Richard R. Duncan. I have the book sitting in front of me, haven't read it yet, but from glancing over it, it covers early spring 1864 up until at least the Battle of Lynchburg, probably after it.
