Adjutant's desk unveiled in special presentation

The Corinth Civil War Interpretive Center now has a new permanent exhibit -- a unique, antique desk -- a historical piece that chronicles a piece of history.

The exhibit -- an elaborately carved adjutant's desk -- was unveiled after a special presentation and dedication ceremony at the Interpretive Center Saturday afternoon.

The desk had originally been issued for use to Charles Dana Miller, the 76th Ohio Volunteer Infantry regiment's adjutant. Promoted to lieutenant after enlisting, Miller served as adjutant for the regiment for over two years before being promoted to captain just prior to the Atlanta Campaign of 1864.

Miller's great-granddaughter, Barbara Tillery, of Laurel, told the story of the desk, and of Miller, during a special presentation before the exhibit's unveiling.
