There is Jackson, sitting astride his mount, Little Sorrel, surveying vistas of rolling fields, towering signs, high-voltage power lines and trees.

The opposition to cutting trees down in the park to preserve or return historic views, Iunderstand to a point. But if this land had not been set aside in the first place there wouldn,t be any trees to even be concerned about. the fact that there are trees to even cut away on any battlefield is a tribute to battlefield preservation efforts.

      Re: Manassas NMP Restoring Views

This is a poorly written article; it fails to clarify and seperate the different historical, developmental, economic, and environmental/ecological issues. If I didn't have prior knowledge of the topics, I'd be completely confused.

I don't understand the objection to a study that is intended to "guide development." Guiding development is what keeps liquor stores and porn shops from opening next to elementary schools, or a waste treatment plant from appearing in my back yard. If we had "guided development" more resolutely in this country and actually planned for the future instead of recklessly expanding, we wouldn't have a housing market crisis threatening our economy.

Oh, and a big "thanks a lot" to Bud Robertson for failing to support practices that make his job easier.
