  • Terry's Texas Rangers Monument

Texas placed a monument for Terry's Texas Rangers in Kentucky this week. As soon as I get the pixs from my co-worker I'll share.

Should have said where...Battle for the Bridge Historic Preserve in Mundfordville, Kentucky

Thanks, that would be great. I was invited to attend the ceremony but couldn't fit it into my schedule on the short notice I received. Photos would be greatly appreciated.

While my current focus is on the California Volunteers in Arizona, back in 1995 I started and still maintain the Terry's Texas Rangers Online Archive. I have about 4 file cabinets (condensed from 8 originally) of notes on the regiment and am continually locating more info than Misty or I have time to get online.

So, you think that scrap in the East is rough, do you?
Ever consider what it means to be captured by Apaches?

I wish that I had more lead time for this because I would have really liked to attend. Our unit, Co I, 8th Texas Cav has travelled to other states to do grave dedications and ceremonies to honor these men. The last time was at Officer House in Tennessee where Rangers were killed while unarmed and one executed. I know that many of us would have been there instead of going to Fort Concho.

I'm not sure how the invitations were handled, etc. I'm in cemeteries and this is handled through our military sites program. You might want to keep an eye on this site http://www.thc.state.tx.us/militarysites/milcivwr.shtml for any future dedications.

Photos will probably be available after the first of the year as the program coordinator is out for the holidays.
