That would be worth the trip to attend his burial. A great honor so many of them never got.

Thanks Joe. Yes, this is something that all of US can get behind.. no matter who we usually rub shoulders with. Franklin welcomes you!

I completely agree Jon. I'm definitely looking forward to this. This soldier deserves a proper soldier's burial.

Someone should walk these people over to the cases at the Carter House and go "Look, a Confederate Jacket...you see that...those are FEDERAL buttons"

          Joe and Jon,
Let me know of any efforts for the ceremony, I'll be there.

              Service arrangements

              Gents:

Just wondering if there had been any further news on arrangements for this soldier's re-internment, and what participation could be offered for the service.

              Thank you...

Just a reminder to the forumers within a decent days drive.. this weekend is the unknown soldier reinternment in Franklin, TN. This is a wonderful opportunity to give honor to the fallen. Franklin will be hosting quite a show. The funerary ceremony starts at 10 AM on Saturday and there will be a procession to the cemetery three city blocks away. Should be 'fun'.. and certainly memorable.
