  • CWT: Action needed today to save gettysburg for future generations

    Pards,

CWPT could really use your help on this! It only takes a minute to fill out the e-petition!

ACTION NEEDED TODAY TO SAVE GETTYSBURG FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS

A group of misguided investors has put forward a proposal to place a casino just ½ mile from Gettysburg National Military Park.

The Civil War Preservation Trust remains opposed to the idea of a slots parlor and gambling den within cannon shot of this national treasure. Besides simply cashing in on the Gettysburg name, a Gettysburg casino would generate tawdry and inconsistent sprawl along the historic Emmitsburg Road and would ultimately cheapen the sacrifices of those who fought and died there.

Fortunately, we can stop this proposal – but we need your help!
There are three easy ways to get involved and defend this national treasure:

    1. Sign the e-petition condemning the idea of a Gettysburg casino by simply visiting the CWPT No Gettysburg Casino petition page. Each and every petition will then be submitted to the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board.

    2. Sign up to testify at the hearing on August 31st in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania or submit written testimony and tell the Gaming Control Board: Don’t Gamble with Gettysburg!

Visit the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board website to sign up before the August 26th deadline to register.

    3. Donate what you can to the CWPT to assist in our efforts to defend this hallowed ground!

With your help we will preserve for future generations the sanctified, dignified and reverent atmosphere of Gettysburg – arguably America’s best known historic site.

    Nicholas Redding
