  • New lookj for the Pry House ( Antietam)

This will be released to the press shortly but I wanted you all to know.

The trees behind the Pry House that currently block the view of the East Woods and Mumma Farm, are being removed by the NPS. Two acres of trees will be removed to allow a view similar to what would have been at the time of the battle.

There will also be a path down to the Antietam and an interpretive panel on the creek.

This is a huge improvement to the property and renews a lost view scape of the battle.

Re: New look for the Pry House! ( Antietam)

I am once again excited to hear that the NPS is making a concerted effort to return these viewscapes to their original 1860's lines. I visited the Antietam battlefield and Pry house two years ago, and when at the Pry house I had a hard time understanding how McClellan and staff observed the battle from couches on the back lawn. Thumbs up to this effort!
