Was at a living history event today at Gilcrease Museum in Tulsa and was told by a recently retired Ok History Society employee that they have three men in custody for Arson and warrants out on a fourth. We were told a firing squad, riding the wooden horse, and lashing to a wheel were all off the table by the DA! :) If correct, while it won't replace the barracks, at least they got them. Story was this was four adult men, just plain malicious vandalism.

I did not see "hanging" mentioned. Fort Washita has plenty of good old Live Oaks that would do them justice...

An organization known as the "Friends of Ft. Washita" are hosting an event at the site on November 13 to help raise funds for rebuilding the barracks. We all elements of the living history community to help anyway they can. I know times are tough, but no donation is too small. I'll post a link later this evening with further information on how you can help.

Very sad indeed. Towana Spivey the archaeologist responsible for the research and construction of the barracks was very saddened as well. I grew up on that post while he excavated and performed the restoration. Nice to know you have such a qualified historian/Director to protect Fort Sill's historical interests!
