"Tickets available for Friday fundraiser
BLUE RIDGE SUMMIT, Pa. - Registrations are still being accepted for "An Evening with Ed Bearss" scheduled for Friday at the Blue Ridge Fire Hall.
Bearss is the chief historian emeritus for the National Park Service and author of more than 20 books on the Civil War. He'll address the Battle of Monterey Pass, which was the only battle fought on both sides of the Mason-Dixon Line.
Funds are being raised to preserve the battle site in Blue Ridge Summit. The township received a $41,900 grant and is looking to raise about $58,000 more.
Washington Township Manager Mike Christopher said more than $5,000 has been contributed to a special account designated for the acquisition of the battle site.
Doors open at 6 p.m. for the event. Registrations, which cost $45 each, will be accepted at the door."
