The Ohio Civil War 150 Advisory Committee and the Ohio National Guard are proud to announce their 150th Anniversary kick off events:
April 10th, at the Ohio Statehouse in Columbus the following will be going on:
11:00 Brunch in the Statehouse. Cost is $40 per ticket. Wes Cowan of History Detectives will be the Keynote speaker. The Ohio Historical Society will have artifacts on hand including I believe at least one, conserved Ohio Civil War battle flag. All funds raised at this event will go to Ohio's "Save the Flags" Campaign.
2:00 The Ohio National Guard will spearhead a ceremony recreating the mustering in of the 1st OVI. The Army of the Ohio reenactors will coordinate the reenactors for this ceremony. This event is free and open to the public. There will be static displays on the Statehouse Grounds through out the day from Civil War up to Modern Military items. We are also hoping to have a mass formation of Reenactors with their colors.
We have tried to distribute as widely as possible. Please help spread the word on these exciting events.
