• "No Man Can Take Those Colors and Live..."

.. was the cry of Lieutenant Blair of the 26th to Lt Col John Lane as he picked up the fallen colors of the 26th NC after seeing 14 color bearers fall before.

CWPT is trying to save 104 acres of prime 1st day Gettysburg battlefield. The field where the 24th Michigan and 26th NC tore each other apart. For every $1 dollar raised there are $29 in matching funds.

PS. Article says Lt Col John Lane dies shortly afterwards from a wound he sustained. He doesn't die until 1908. Honest!

Was Gen Sherman's response upon hearing the capture and execution of 3 reporters who had followed from Atlanta, by the rebels.
The execution part turned out to be false. Dagg Nabbit!
