THe Final pieces are in place and funding has been secured. The county BOS (Board of Supervisors) approved the "Stafford County Civil War Park". Although no battles were ever fought here, it is a unique place. Elements of the AOP 11th Corps wintered over here during 62-63. Soldiers built roads and earthworks to protect the US supply lines from Aquia landing to Falmouth (opposite Fredericksburg across the Rappahanock river). The park will consist of 3 intact artillery emplacements, a cordoroy road that has been escavated and winter camps.
