  • Help save Fort Tejon

    Hello all,

The State of California is on the verge of closing Fort Tejon, and the Fort Tejon Historial Association needs your help. Please go to its website at www.forttejon.org and you can find information on how you can help. You can also become a member, which would help the FTHA in its efforts.

Fort Tejon was home to Company A of the 1st U.S. Dragoons. The Fort guarded the old road, known as the Grapevine, that ran from Old Sacramento to Los Angeles. One of it's notable members was Lieutentant John Pegram, who later became General John Pegram, C.S.A.

"I think and highly hope that this war will end this year, and Oh then what a happy time we will have. No need of writing then but we can talk and talk again, and my boy can talk to me and I will never tire of listening to him and he will want to go with me everywhere I go, and I will be certain to let him go if there is any possible chance."
