Re: Gettysburg Cyclorama building to be demolished, site restored.
Huzzah! So far the parking for the old VC is still there and appear only opened occasionally like Remembrance Day. I could be wrong though. It will be very cool to see the area rehabilitated too abd it doesn't looke like it will be down for the 150th. I also wonder if they will change the traffic pattern around the site?Robert Ambrose

Re: Gettysburg Cyclorama building to be demolished, site restored.
The plan for restoration is on the parks website. In short. the best part is the monstrosity is gone. The parking lot will be reconfigured for 57 cars and 4 buses. Sidewalks installed in the 60's are gone. Zieglers ravine will be somewhat restored and a walking path through the grove will be restored to the 1938 configuration. The monuments that were displaced by this temporary folly, ie Neutras dump, will be restored to their original locations. Fence lines will be replaced . Although this is starting shortly. Remember, that most of us will never live to see the full restoration .Barry Dusel

Demolish the Cyclorama Building? What is this world coming to? Next thing you know they'll get rid of General Pickett's Buffet Restaurant, and maybe ban bluegrass groups (in Civil War uniforms) from performing at reenactments on modern country/western instruments.Eric Marten

Yea, I'm at odds with the Gettysburg Foundation too. They have no idea how to run a business, let's start there.[FONT="Book Antiqua"]"Grumpy" Dave Towsen

Re: Gettysburg Cyclorama building to be demolished, site restored.
Hi Dave,
My understanding is that the old VC parking will remain until the end of the 150th cycle. Then it will be gone. As to the old cyclorama parking. Under option B, the plan selected. The lot will be reconfigured and reconstructed . Hancock Ave is also going to be redone somewhat in the area of the Zieglers Grove to allow for restoration of Zieglers ravine.Barry Dusel

Re: Gettysburg Cyclorama building to be demolished, site restored.
As of yesterday, 19 Jan, 2013. The demolition is on hold. It seems as though solicitors for the NPS are of the opinion that Neutra and others are preparing to file suit against NPS. Again! In violation of the agreement that was made when this last round of legal action was began. At that time, neutra's kid and his cohorts had agreed not to attempt to block further action on the demolition if rulings went against them . So much for any sense of homour! On another note. Without question. When this 150th round of ceremonies is done. That is Ca. 2015. The area that was formerly the VC and Electric Map, and adjoining Parking area. Will be reclaimed and landscaped. That is the latest.Barry Dusel
