As I looked out the window at the newfallen snow yesterday, I felt a pang a bit like the mothers of old. My sons are at SFS this weekend, and I hope they are warm and dry. At least they have warm sleeping caps and socks. It got me thinking. Joe Hoffman's site is sold out of sleeping caps right now, and some people might be planning to attend a chilly event soon.
I'd like to donate 3 new sleeping caps to the preservation cause at Mansfield. It will be made in your choice of wool, lined with homespun, osnaburg, or cotton, and hand topstitched along the edge. The edge can be folded up for chilly nights around the fire, and folded down over your face for sleeping when the air is so cold that it hurts to breathe.
I respectfully request $45 for each hat. Every penny will go to support Mansfield. It's an important place, and this is a great window of opportunity to support it. The thread below tells how each donation will be matched 3 to 1.
If you're interested, please tell me your head circumference and wool color choice. If you have a lining preference, please say; otherwise, I'll choose one that goes with your wool choice. If you'd like it to go with your eyes, please tell me your eye color, too. Inside the envelope, you will find a package wrapped in brown paper and twine and addressed to you at your company (please specify) in Spencerian handwriting. Rewrap it and have it delivered to you at mail call at your next event.
Color choices of wool:
woven shades of brown
small plaid brown
navy (not purple)
sage green
gray shoddy (as in attached photos)
medium gray
charcoal gray
As the deadline for the raffle is here, Doug Cooper suggested that I handle this directly and send him one check by March 27th.
