The Zebulon Vance Birthplace State Historic Site is on the chopping block in the NC Governor's budget. The budget is in the hands of the State Legislature so who knows, but its likely that they will follow his lead on matters related to Cultural Resources. (this also includes closing 3 other State Historic Sites and a branch of the State Museum). Vance has been a historic site since the late 1960s and I know countless living historians have visited or given programs there over the years. Most recently both the North State Rifles and the 26th NCT have enjoyed volunteering their time at the site.
