From the Wednesday Daily Corinthian:
Park Day cleanup has 'to-do' list Saturday for volunteers
History buffs and other willing volunteers are invited to roll up their sleeves to help with chores at three local historic sites on Saturday. The Civil War Preservation Trust’s eighth annual Park Day clean-up event will involve volunteers at two Corinth sites, Davis Bridge and Shiloh National Military Park. Participants will receive free T-shirts. In Corinth, the Siege and Battle of Corinth Commission is asking friends to gather at the overlook platform of Trailhead Park at the corner of Waldron and Jackson streets at 9 a.m. The “to-do” list includes cleaning signs; litter and limb pick-up at three trail sites; trail sweeping; and clean-up at the historic monument area at Battery Robinett. The work is expected to be complete by noon.
The Curlee/Verandah House Museum grounds have been the site of a number of Park Day activities in the past. Last year, local volunteers were asked to assist in cleaning up brush and debris at Shiloh National Military Park to help reduce the threat of wildfires spreading onto the park property.
Work will begin at the Davis Bridge Battlefield in Pocahontas, Tenn., at 10 a.m.
