I was just wondering if anybody out there had heard anything more on the status or pland with Fort Wayne in Detroit? The news on it seems to have slowed down a bit and I curious to know what might be up.
If you are refering to the GHTI event that was held last August, the GHTI had considered planning and hosting another event again this year, however it has been postponed. It is the hopes and deisres to again do this next year 2005. You can contact Pat Price (Forum Moderator) for additional information pertaining to any GHTI event at Ft. Wayne in Detroit, MI. I am sure he can better answer any questions.
I hope this helps

The fort should be open on its regular weekend schedule following Memorial Day. April 3-4 is the flea market, which typically coincides with a reenactment and there is also the "official" reenactment at the fort June 5-6. I believe the 7th Mi has taken over most of the reenacting end of things at the fort. If you are interested in volunteering as a docent, contact the Detroit Historical Museum as they handle the volunteer end of things. The Friends of Fort Wayne Guard have their own listsever (Yahoo, I believe), but things have been quiet as of late. The funding seems to still be in limbo last I had heard, but that was back last summer.
If you happen to be interested in assisting through the DHM, contact Eleanor Austin at 313-833-0481 or through her email austine@hist.ci.detroit.mi.us
I have a packet of information on volunteering and a calendar of events, if you are interested, let me know and I'll send you a copy.
