THIRD WINCHESTER BATTLEFIELD PLAN TO BE PRESENTED AT PUBLIC MEETING
A meeting will be held April 6, 2004 to discuss interpretive plan
(Winchester, VA) - The Civil War Preservation Trust (CWPT) and the historical consulting firm History Associates Incorporated (HAI) are in the process of creating an interpretive plan for a Civil War battlefield site acquired by CWPT, northeast of Winchester, Virginia. The enhancements being considered for the 222-acre parcel off of Red Bud Road include informational wayside exhibits, walking and other exercise paths, and landscaping to create a lasting historical and natural resource. Furthermore, the groups are exploring ways to use the Third Winchester site to promote Winchester and the Shenandoah Valley as heritage tourism destinations. CWPT and HAI will be holding a public meeting Tuesday, April 6th at 7:00 p.m. at the Shenandoah University’s Historical & Tourism Center, 20 South Cameron Street, Winchester, Virginia. The meeting will be for the purpose of discussing interpretive ideas and to answer additional questions. All are invited to attend. Light refreshments will be served.
