Media Advisory: Congressman Hal Rogers Joins Civil War Trust for Memorial Day Weekend Ceremony at Mill Springs
(Nancy, Ky.) – U.S. Representative Harold "Hal" Rogers (R–Ky.), a long-time champion of historic preservation in Congress, will join officials from the Civil War Trust and the Mill Springs Battlefield Association on Saturday, May 23, 2015, for an important announcement and Memorial Day weekend ceremony at the Mill Springs Battlefield in Nancy, Kentucky. The event will celebrate recent land conservation successes on the historic battleground.
The event will begin at 10:00 a.m. with a performance by the accomplished Eighth Regiment Band. The ceremony will be held at the Mill Springs Battlefield Visitor Center, located on Hwy. 80. Congressman Rogers will be joined at the event by Civil War Trust president James Lighthizer, Trust chairman emeritus John L. Nau, III, and Mill Springs Battlefield Association president Dr. Bruce Burkett.
Following the ceremony, attendees will have an opportunity to tour the visitor center and National Cemetery. Refreshments will be available during and after the event.
