One at a time, no one really notices because there are so many others remaining. Eventually, they'll all be gone.

My 2x great grandfather was with Kirby Smith's army as it surrendered or melted away in 1865.

Um...I didn't really read a valid reason in the article. Another case of someone wanting to make a name for himself as a hero for modern views. I wonder if any family of the guys in bronze have anything to say or have said anything at all. I guarantee most folks don't even know who Kirby Smith was or what he did. Sad case.

Good grief, what nonsense. Its a really cool statue - maybe they can move him out west to one of his battlefields?

Perhaps the ultimate home for some of these great soldiers is on National Battlefield Parks?
